Eva Hakansson set a world record with a 241.9 mile-per-hour pass at Bonneville this year. Of further interest, she made history as the world’s fastest woman while riding an electric motorcycle and surpassing the prior record for women riding a gas powered machine.
The record setting run was made on a 19-foot-long, three-wheeled motorcycle with a 400-horsepower electric motor powered by an A123 Systems lithium-ion battery weighing in at 1,540 pounds. According to her team, KillaJoule Racing, last time electric beat gas-powered for a motorcycle speed record was back in 1899, and the speed in question was 65 mph.
